Unlocking the Mysteries of Zultanite, Csarite, and Diaspore.

Zultanite, Csarite, and Diaspore are indeed the same mineral marketed under different names. Zultanite and Csarite are both trade names for Diaspore sourced from Turkey or Tanzania. These gemstones exhibit a remarkable colour change from green to pinkish-red under varying lighting conditions.

Understanding the Origins

Color-Changing Diaspore

The gemstone "Csarite" is named after the word "Tsar," signifying "ruler" or "emperor," highlighting the gem's majestic appearance and exceptional rarity. Csarite is predominantly sourced from Turkey, with additional small deposits found in various locations worldwide, including Tanzania, Russia, Italy, Switzerland, and USA. Although relatively new to the jewellery market, Diaspore has garnered attention due to its distinctive colour-changing properties and its resemblance to more costly gemstones like alexandrite and colour-change sapphire.

Diaspore is a valuable mineral used as a gemstone, also known as diasporite or empholite. It was discovered in 1801 in the Ural Mountains of Russia and was named after the Greek word "diaspora," meaning "to scatter." Notably, diaspore has a unique property called pleochroism, allowing it to display different colours when viewed from different angles.

Discover the transformative allure

Diaspore is usually a yellowish-green colour, but it can also range of colours: White, brown, colourless, pale yellow, greyish, greenish grey, lilac, pinkish, rose-red, and dark red. The colour depends on the impurities present in the mineral. The gemstone has a hardness of 6.5-7 on the Mohs scale, which makes it suitable for use in jewellery, but care should be taken to protect it from scratches and abrasions.

Properties And Benefits Of Diaspore
